The retailer system is still weak

The report of the Department of Industry and Trading showed that, although 5 provinces have built the quite modern retailer system, it still has not met the requirement. In Hanoi, there have only 20 commerce centers, 110 supermarkets. Even in Hochiminh city, there have only 24 commerce centers and 163 supermarkets. Danang is calling for investment, but there only have 30 commerce centers and supermarkets.

Mr. Le Hong Thang, Director of Hanoi Department of Industry and Trading said that, the centers and supermarkets have the small and medium scale. The kind of business is still simple, mainly focus on the retailer and the office for rent. Besides, the organization of commerce center is unreasonable. The management and the service of this net is average.

Mr. Vu Vinh Phu, Chairman of Hanoi Supermarket Association said that, to promote the development of retailer system, it needs to rely on the role of the Government. However, the management agencies still have not created the advantages for this.

To promote the domestic commerce system, besides the effort of the businesses, the Ministry of Industry and Trading and the People’s Committee should stand by the businesses. It needs to draw the specific resolutions, not just the common ones. For example, the resolution on improving the management, the supermarkets. In addition, the People’s Committee needs to control the net of markets to be suitable with the population density. Moreover, the researching and turning the big market into the commerce centers need to focus on.

The government should have the policies to support the businesses to shorten the time of investment dealing, to support the interest rate, etc. Besides, the facility should be improved.
